This information is important and it is worth noting that only a very small percentage of your travel procurement is represented by your Sure Corporate Travel Company; the vast majority of travel spend is accrued to suppliers such as airlines, hotels, and car rental companies. |

Sure Corporate Travel Companies are very aware of the need for active participation in “environmentally friendly” business practices, and are active participants in the NBI managed Energy Efficiency & Carbon Disclosure Programme.
In 2005, the SA Department of Minerals and Energy in conjunction with the NBI produced a document entitled the “Energy Efficiency Accord”. The accord forms an essential part of the Energy Efficiency Strategy of South Africa. One element of the strategy is the encouragement of business-led, voluntary initiatives to improve energy efficiency. The strategy falls into line with the UN Global Compact, and the NBI has the role of being the focal point of the South African local network of the UN Compact. |

Government will be using the 2010 FIFA World Cup preparations to commence its environmental protection policy, which will be based on four pillars:
- Conservation of water and energy
- Waste management
- Transport and mobility
- A carbon offset campaign.
Sure Corporate will, on an ongoing basis, monitor developments in this area, and will survey travel product supplier environmental policies and practices. Should your company have an environmental plan in place we will assist in its inclusion within your travel policy. |
